HIV/AIDS community involvement

The number of people living with HIV (including AIDS) in Canada continues to rise, from an estimated 64,000 in 2008 to 71,300 in 2011. GSK has a proud history of contributing to the fight against HIV/AIDS through the research and development of medicines that treat the disease, but recognizes that additional initiatives are needed to intensify and accelerate the response to HIV/AIDS.

Established by GSK and Pfizer in 2009 and joined by Shionogi in 2012, ViiV Healthcare is a global specialist HIV company with a sustainable commitment to delivering advanced treatment and care, and improving access to medicines for people living with HIV worldwide.

ViiV Healthcare supports the Canadian HIV community through a number of different initiatives.
