GSK is committed to supporting charitable causes and organizations in the communities in which we operate, as well as continuing our long-standing legacy of involvement in hospice palliative care, healthcare and health promotion, and science education. By focusing GSK in Canada's charitable contributions, we hope to create a significant impact and make a positive difference in the lives of Canadians and those in need around the world.
Following a robust proposal review process, we are proud to have established 3-year grant commitments with the following charitable/not-for-profit organizations, providing funding to support their programs and initiatives throughout 2014-2016. These organizations are passionate about the causes, communities and individuals they support, and we are privileged to be able to contribute to the realization of their missions as we strive to achieve our own – to help people do more, feel better, live longer.
- United Way / Centraide – GSK and its employees are proud to continue our long-standing involvement with United Way/Centraide in support of local community efforts, serving the areas our employees work and live.
- Health Partners International of Canada – Since the inception of our partnership in 1994, GSK in Canada continues to be a proud contributor to Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC). Over the years we have provided millions worth in product donations, as well as substantial financial grants to support the provision of medical relief to those in need around the world.
- Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association – GSK remains committed to the continued evolution of the hospice palliative care movement in Canada. We believe that all Canadians have the right to die with dignity, free of pain, surrounded by loved ones in the setting of their choice. We continue to be supportive of the creation of a public policy environment that recognizes and supports quality end-of-life care as a key component of Canada's healthcare system.
- Actua – We believe future health innovation depends on creating opportunities for young Canadians to engage in science discovery. Through our partnership with Actua and support for their interactive STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education programs, we are helping to develop a future generation of scientists.
In addition, we continue to support GSK's global partnership with Save the Children, striving to save the lives of a million of the poorest children in the world.
We also actively support our employees in their charitable pursuits through our global Orange Day and PULSE programs, as well as engagement in initiatives to support Save the Children and GSK's local annual United Way/Centraide employee giving campaigns.
