GSK statement on vaccine shortages
Vaccines manufacturing is a complex process that involves many steps and can take between 10-26 months to complete. Shortages can happen for a variety of reasons. This includes unexpected demand, supply chain disruptions (e.g. ingredient sourcing challenges) or production issues. As always, patient safety is our first priority. Every batch of GSK vaccines is subject to extensive review and only product that meets rigorous standards and regulations are released into the marketplace.
At present, we are working diligently to minimize any supply impact to patients and to return to normal supply volumes as soon as possible for several GSK vaccines. Additional details are available on the Drug Shortages Canada website ( www.drugshortagescanada.ca) and we will continue to update the website on a regular basis with the latest supply information.
